Really fun tour! Alana was our guide and she was fantastic!! Knew the history and equipment of the era well and let our kids help with the demonstrations! Well worth spending a few hours exploring.

A fun place to take your kids. The tour guides are always very nice and want you to ask questions. When you are done with the tour, you can pan for gold or stop over at the bar and grill for some food or ice cream. As this place is not that big, don't plan your day around it, the tour lasts about an hour. The path through the mine is also stroller friendly if you have young children.

We came here because my son is a huge mining/mine fan. Our guide, Alana, was simply amazing. She was not only knowledgeable about the mine, how everything worked, history of it, and all the minerals- she was enthusiastic and excited about what she does. Even after the tour she was talking to us and letting us know about the different minerals- and then she came back (at closing time) and stayed around to help the kids figure out the panning and do better at it. Everyone here was so nice and friendly. I highly recommend this place, and Alana in particular. Fantastic experience! (Alana mid- tour, picture)

The half day claim panning excursion was incredible. Expect to get wet and dirty, as you dig for your own flakes and nuggets and the guide teaches you how to run it through the hand sluice and pans. Lots of walking back and forth over rough terrain. But we came home with about 30 golf flakes in a vial, and learned a ton of information about panning, gold, and geology in general from our guide, Ross. Worthwhile if you want an authentic Black Hills prospecting experience!

9/18/17. Very nice tour of an old gold mine. Tour was reasonably priced and lasted about 45 minutes. Our guide Alana was both entertaining and knowledgeable of it's history. We were the last tour of the day and she stayed with us talking of the surrounding area and of where we were from until we left. Lots to do around the grounds including panning for gold and an old mill with tools and machines from the time period.
