You gotta see this already once in your life. I mean it's Mount Rushmore! Great way home to the base. They have a passed walk way. Easy for little kids. The evening program was awesome. We had a veteran in our group the made his day by inviting him and others to participate in lowering the flag.
Iconic, patriotic, and pretty cool. There’s not much else to say about this place. What you see is what you get— it looks exactly like it does in pictures. The drive from Rapid City is an easy one, there’s plenty of parking, and a cute gift shop with both some of the most horrifyingly gaudy (tie-dye Rushmore boxers) and impressively classy (hand-carved wooden buffalo) gifts I’ve seen. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a trip. If not, you can 100% experience it through pictures.
This is a wonderful place to visit with your family and friends. I love to take my dogs on walks here in the morning to see the sunrise or the sun sets at night obviously. It is such a beautiful to visit in the fall when the leaves are turning colors period. We need more Park for our families and loved ones to visit and have a good time together. So please write your Congressman or your senators and let them know that we need less golf courses for the rich and more free and open Park...
Mount Rushmore is an amazing place. The pictures you get aren't much better than you get online to give you an idea of the place. But the walking trails around the area really give you a much better sense of the scale of what was done. The park itself has plenty of parking and it's very easy to get around. I highly recommend checking out the area underneath the monument Visitor Center. The explain how the built the whole thing and what the prep work was like. It's all very interesting.
I have been waiting to come here most of my life and it was worth the wait! I was amazed to see this historic landmark of America. The facility was in mint condition, entrance fee costs $10.00 but last until the end of the annual year if you wanted to come back. Parking attendant was helpful and friendly. Visitor Center offers many gifts and also a free audio tour to guide you around the park. If in this area again I will most definitely be stopping by Mt. Rushmore.
