This was my first time at Elk Haven, but I've been hearing about how great it is for the last 12 years that my parents have been coming out here! Elk Haven is AMAZING! There is a fantastic view of the Black Hills from every campsite, including the veranda off the main store/lodge with the perfect rocking chairs to relax in. Jim and Sherri do a wonderful job running Elk Haven. Jim took a morning off to show us a new trail in Custer State park and they let us use the lodge to throw my dad a surprise 65th birthday party! There's no reason to trailer out, as there are trails off to Custer State Park and the Black Hills right out of camp! If you are looking for a clean, friendly place to stay with horse trails out of each side of camp, this is the place for you!

I love staying at Elk Haven! The trails are beautiful! Difficulty of trails ranges from easy to difficult. There are trailers to rent to try other trail heads, even though I couldn't get enough of the trails right out of camp! The owners hospitality was one of a kind. The porch with wooden rocking chair is the best place to watch the sunset (besides the back of my horse).

We love this place. This was our 12th year here and are already booked for next year. So many places to ride, right from camp. Beautiful lodge with food, supplies and gifts. We love sitting on the veranda in the rocking chairs after a great ride in the hills. Jim and Sherri are fantastic people that we are happy to call friends.

Elk Haven is a Amazing Place to Camp with your horses the trails are Beautiful! Riding behind the camp and the park in front cant get any better , Jim and Sheri are Great people and go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay !! The Store has great shopping and the pork sandwich is fantastic and if you are there for Thursday Rib Dinner you will be in Heaven!! Jim smokes it and they make their own sauce ! The Porch is a very relaxing place after a great ride to just enjoy new and old friends !! if you get a chance DONT MISS OUT!!!

Beautiful trails. Great people. You have the Black Hills behind the camp and Custer State Park in front. Jim n Sherry are the nicest people and we made many new friends to ride with and have a few adult beverages with around the campfires. We made plans to return next year before we left this year. You can ride your horses anywhere n everywhere and then check out Needles Highway on your motorcycle. Which is exactly what we did. Keystone has nice restaurants and Rapid City has Bear Country. You have to check it all out!
